Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Trade paperback edition, published by Angus & Robertson, 1991. Colin Thomas Johnson, also known as Mudrooroo, was a controversial figure in Australian literature. He wrote poetry, essays and novels. This novel is focused on a small Australian Aboriginal community dealing with changes in their society with the arrival of new settlers. This is a remainder copy with a black sharpie swipe mark on the bottom edge of the text block. A bit of residue on the back cove from where a price sticker was removed. No creases to the cover or spine though. No former ownership marks. This is not a remainder, not a library discard.

First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. First edition. A small bookstore stamp on the front pastedown and a short tear to the edge of one page, else fine in a lightly rubbed, very near fine, price-clipped dustwrapper, with the very scarce wraparound band. Long considered the first novel written by an Australian Aborigine, Johnson became a dominant figure in Aboriginal literature. However, an article in 1996 revealed that, perhaps unbeknownst to the author, he was probably not an Aborigine at all (according to the article his mother was Irish-English and his father was African-Irish).
