Annotated catalog of 48 works, chronology, index of illustrations. Abraham Jacob Bogdanove (1888-1946) was an American artist and muralist best known for his depictions of the Maine seacoast. Russian-born, he moved to his family in 1900 to New York City , where he later studied at Cooper Union and the Columbia Universy School of Architecture. He first visit the Maine coast in 1915, summering at Mount Desert Island, and in 1918 visited Monhegan Island where he would buy home in 1920. Bogdanove visited Monhegnan every year until his death in 1946 and over the years produced seascapes and landscapes that would make up the bulk of his paintings.

An artistic collaboration between poet Wesley McNair of New Hampshire and then Maine, and painter and photographer Dozier Bell. While attending a Rockefeller Foundation retreat for artists and scholars in 1993, they found their ongoing projects had intersecting qualities. McNair's narrative poem, 'My Brother Running' and Bell's photography collages were featured in the show, 'The Dissonant Heart' at the Portland Museum of Art in the fall of 1995.
