No Binding. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Please note: text is in English. Offered is Issue No. 163 (April 1989) of "Noticias de Guatemala" published out of Mexico. A single mimeographed sheet printed on both sides. A Special Service Editorial headlined "U.S. Tropps [Troops] in Guatemala" which begins, "During the last week of March and the first days of this month, the residents of the south part of Guatemala City, where the military airport 'La Aurora' is located, observed an intriguing number of takeoffs and landings of enormous Northern American military helicopters. Several weeks before, in the beginning of February, neighbors of this area and hundreds of travelers and their relatives who were in the international area of this airport, witnessed the crash landing of a North American Air Force combat plane, which upon impact resulted in a big explosion on the landing strip." The newsletter provides strong evidence that the U.S. Air Force "were participating in combat missions, backing up the Guatemalan Army, in various areas in the North and Northwest of the country. The URNG [Guatemalan National Revolutionary Unity - in Spanish: Unidad Revolucionaria Nacional Guatemalteca] stated that without doubt, an A-37B plane was machine gunning and carrying out bombing attacks in combat areas between the Government Army and guerrilla units.".
