Binding full leather but front board attachment fragile. Rear board separate. Leather of spine torn with 10 per cent missing. Title Paterson's Roads on red leather intact. The Fourteenth Edition. 8v0, 528pp, fold out map ( in good condition ) half leather binding rubbed and title on spine faded, marbled paper boards tatty, but binding is sound and restorable, contents are in nice clean and tight condition with virtually no foxing , it is a nice copy internally in a bit aged but sound binding. Book.

cxxvi[i] pp, 916 pp, folding frontis map. Near contemporary brown half calf with olive green calf gilt spine labe, marbled boards, bookplate to front paste down endpaper. 18 cm x 13 cm. Wear to spine with loss of leather to the upper section, rubbing and light wear to extremes, random marks to boards, contents age browned with some random foxing.

A very good contemporary full leather binding with central brass clasp (in working order), and all of the maps. 8vo. 8.0" x 5.0" x 1.75". Black polished calf with rubbed gilt filet border. Hinges carefully strengthened. Spine with 5 raised bands, rubbed gilt decoration and old red leather title label. Red page edges. Grey endpapers. Inner hinges carefully strengthend. bookplate to verso of the front board: "Ex Libris Oliver Collection No. 707". Folded map of England and Wales as frontis, with small repairs to edges (not affecting the map. Printed title page. With copyright notice on verso of title, threatening pirates with prosecution. Printed: London: Cox, Son, and Baylis. Text printed in two columns. Map of the Isle of Wight, bound after p.22. All other maps bound at the end of the book. Maps engraved by Thomson. Clear text and illustrations on lightly toned paper. A Very Good copy of the 14th edition of this crucial early road guide ~Book is quarter bound in leather and marbled boards.Leather title la bel stamped in gilt on spine. Fold-out road map ~ 8vo size ~ 528 page s. Front board shows a crack along outer spine seam and front board ha s been reattached internally with cloth binding tape.Rear board has a short crack starting at the top but is still firmly attached to spine. Both inner hinges have also been reinforced with cloth hinge tape, s o the book is now firmly bound with no loose or wobbly sheets.Leather has moderate rubbing to spine and corners. Inside, the fold-out map ha s an inked inscription on the verso dated 1814, but is otherwise in ni ce condition with just light tanning at folds. Coat of Arms Book Plat e on the front endpaper.Text has some light foxing at edges but is oth erwise quite clean and firmly bound. A decent copy of an uncommon book .
