Soft cover. Condition: Good. pp135-151. Removed from INDIANA MAGAZINE OF HISTORY, Volume 59, No. 2, June, 1963. Wrps. G. An interesting article. The inns during the period 1775-1850, were characterized by a lack of class distinction and very primitive accommodations. The author mentions that the "ubiquitous bedbug was emphatically no respecter of persons" but doesn't mention lice and fleas which, I understand, were also frequent "guests.".

Soft cover. Condition: Good. The ability of the Amish to preserve traditional ways in the face of modernization has given them a special place in American religious history. Indeed, the rapid growth of an Old Order culture in the midst of a modern, industrial 20th century has been surprising. Tradition and Transition allows us to listen in on the debate as a traditional religious minority enters its first round in a long struggle with the focus of modernity - a struggle that would intensify in the twentieth century.
