No Binding. Condition: Near Fine. Franconia Notch State Park-a master development plan. Large oblong folding book 18 inches wide (36 inches when opened )by 12 inches tall. Published by Theodore J worth and Associates architects and planning consultants, Billings Montana and Washington DC. 33 Illustrated (Maps and drawings, colored) and text content pages plus end papers and covers. Contents: the place, geography, geology, ecology, history vacation in visitor revenue. The problems: scenic plunder and congestion, billion dollar roads. The plan: general physical development; highway relocation, developed areas, miscellaneous, trails, fishing, lodging, skiing. Interpretive development; concept, services. The scope of this project was to reconfigure the traffic throw through Franconia Notch in order to address the issues at hand such as traffic congestion and erosion of natural parks and facilities. The Most interesting part of this plan to me was the design and construction of a tunnel through the majority of the Notch beginning at the southern end of Profile Lake and ending on the northern side of Route 3 approximately where I93 now intersects. This plan of course was discarded and most people never heard about it much less have seen the actual designs surrounding that possible answer to the traffic problems in the notch. Quite interesting to be sure! Very good condition That particular part of the project was called the Eaglecliff tunnel proposal. And addenda to this booklet was added after its publication in the form of a document pack in a manila envelope pasted into the end of the book. Unfortunately that is missing however the note of the addenda his present which was pasted into the verso of the front cover. I am going to contact the parts department and the original architect to see if either one have it in their archives to allow me a copy. Book.
