A rare history of the game at Uppingham School from its first recorded match in June 1852. Personalities such as the long-serving cricket coach H. H. Stephenson are described along with some of the players of visiting Elevens. The author was Captain of the School Eleven in 1873. Large 8vo. xv + 316pp. Frontis. (tissue-guard), 15 plates. Original green cloth, corners and head and tail of spine rubbed. A good copy. [Padwick, 1549].
