Book First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. pictorial paperback,128 pages : color illustrations,(FRONT END PAPER MAPS, maps, index; a fine copy of a very interesting architectural study, Published in conjunction with the exhibition presented at the Agnes Etherington Art Centre 30 May-29 September 2004.Dorothy Farr, supervising curator, recognized for earlier Queen's University catalogue productions, is once again commended for her ability to combine architectural drawings, archival photographs, paintings, and tourist memorabilia into a comprehensive exhibit. Unfortunately for historians, island residents did not (and still do not) keep good records of their buildings. [.]names of architects and/or builders were never recorded, and once a house was sold little archival material was saved. [.]du Prey regrets that the exhibition could not afford the full justice the recreational complex merits, and, accordingly, only a scant summary is provided of the construction of the Castle, its architect William Hewitt (1848-1924), and the Hewitt firm in Philadelphia.
