Tylna ok?adka jest lekko wieku tonie. Softcover illustrated children's book. Text is in Polish. Dratewka was a poor shoemaker who had no shop, but wandered the world and fixed shoes. He had a good heart, and helped every creature he met on his travels. When he saw an anthill dug up by a bear, he helped ants fix it. When he saw some damaged beehives, he helped bees to make them right. With wild ducks on the pond he shared his bread. These animals promised to help him if he is in need, but the shoemaker ignored their promises because he did not think they can be helpful. One day he came upon a big castle. An evil witch lived there. Dratewka learned from the locals that she imprisoned a beautiful girl. Many sports had tried to release the damsel, but they all died at the hands of the witch. Dratewka decided to try to help. He knocked on the castle door and demanded the witch release the girl, saying that he wanted to marry her. The witch agreed to release the maiden if shoemaker performed tasks that she ordered and solve a mystery. If he could not handle the tasks he will lose his head. First, the witch took him to a room and showed him a bag of sand mixed with poppy seeds; she told him to separate them that morning, or he would die. Dratewka was sad because he was not able to do so. But then came ants, which he'd once helped. With their help, the work was quickly done. Another task was to find a key lost in the pond - Dratewka did it with the help of ducks, with whom he once shared his bread. Finally, the witch led him to a room where sat nine maidens. All were uniformly dressed in white and were veiled. The witch told him to guess which one is the imprisoned maiden. He had no idea, but help came by his old friends - bees flew through the window and began to circle around one of the girls. Thus Dratewka answered the mystery. The witch turned into a bird and flew away, and the rescued girl threw her arms around him thanking him for freeing her. They were married and lived happily together.
