Hardcover. Condition: Fair. Dust Jacket Condition: No Dust Jacket. First Edition. A decent reading copy, withdrawn from a library. Library markings are minimal, but the book shows signs of considerable use--the first signature, from the title page to page 49, is detached, although intact within itself, and the covers are worn. Still, everything is there, and the text is quite clean. It is understandable why this book would have been read heavily, since it gave state-of-the-art instructions for the anxious parent in the days before medicine had few answers other than hygiene (a fairly new concept at the time). Much information on social mores to be found here as well as medical history. Opening the book at random, I find instructions to the wet nurse on what to eat--including a good quaff of ale or porter daily. Really quite a marvelous book.; Ex-library.
