Dark brown 1/4 leather binding with beige paper-covered boards in pale red paper-covered slipcase. Gilt lettering on book spine. No lettering on slipcase. Book: 6 3/8" x 9 3/4." Slipcase: 6 1/2" x 9 7/8." Pages are virtually pristine and intact. Covers are virtually pristine and intact except for minuscule age toning to boards, light rubbing to spine, and a few small faint spots on boards. Corners of covers are sharp. Binding is tight. Slipcase has some discoloration and spots of soiling and light to moderate rubbing and wear to extremities. A Fine book in a Very Good slipcase. A collection of writings by Mike Quin (1906-1947), the pseudonym of Paul William Ryan, an American author, editor, and a member of the Communist Party. Quin was a Renaissance man of sorts and had various occupations in his career. He was a writer for the WPA Writers' Projects, reporter for the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO), broadcast producer for the National Maritime Union, and a columnist and founding editor for the Daily People's World. This book contains many writings by Quin, including essays, poetry, and prose, with a pro-Communist bent. Edited, with a Biographical Sketch, by Harry Carlisle. Wood engravings by Victor Arnautoff.
