Hardcover. Condition: New. [ART]. Richard Prince, James Frey. "Richard Prince: Cowboys." Beverly Hills, CA: Gagosian Gallery, 2013. Printed by Shapco Printing in Minneapolis, MN. English language. Hardcover. Text with full-color illustrations. 9.25 x 12 x 0.75 in. 24 x 30 cm. 37 oz. 112 pp. Text clean. New. ISBN: 9781935263784."This book was published on the occasion of Richard Prince: Cowboys, an exhibition of the artist?s Cowboy paintings at Gagosian, Beverly Hills.Over the last thirty years, the American cowboy has given rise to some of Prince?s most celebrated works. For his Cowboy paintings, Prince again tapped pulp fiction for inspiration. Directly inspired by the covers of so-called ?frontier books,? he transferred to canvas greatly enlarged inkjet prints of scanned figures removed from their original settings. He then painted in, around, and over the prints in an uninhibited manner evocative of postwar American painting?from sedimentary layers and floating blocks of color to more animated swipes and splatters. The publication documents more than fifty paintings that were in the exhibition and includes numerous full-bleed details of the works. A new text by James Frey inspired by the series is woven throughout the plates.".

First Edition. Quarto. One of 100 copies in slipcase SIGNED by all three participants: Prince, Richardson, and Frey. This artist's book, published by JMc & GHB Editions, consists of three vignettes from Frey's novel, Bright Shiny Morning. The stories are illustrated by Terry Richardson's photographs of Los Angeles, with a tipped-in image announcing each section. One of the vignettes, Wives, was too racy for the American edition; Richardson has illustrated it with humorous images of breastfeeding MILFs brandishing rifles, holding trophies, and bent over in hot tubs, but it is his aerial black and white shots of the Los Angeles freeway system that turn this cool collaboration into a finely honed and executed photobook. New in jacket and publisher's slipcase.

Condition: Wie neu. JMc & GHB, New York, 2008. First Edition, first printing. New, mint, unread; still sealed in publisher`s shrink wrap. Hardbound with illustrated dust jacket. 225 x 285 mm (11,25 x 8,75 inch). Photographs by Terry Richardson. Cover design by Richard Prince. Story by James Frey. Limited to 2000 copies (1000 in hardcover, 1000 in softcover). "Photographer Terry Richardson's spirited images discover this idealism in a typically bold and colorful style. The mood is defiant, the sitters resilient and self-assertive. Here the "Wives" and mothers a selection of women that might be lewdly characterized by the acronym MILFs show an insistence on the sexual self amidst the routines of domesticity, an assertive response to the annihilating mores of impersonal social decorum. Richardson's "Wheels" documents the exuberant culture of automobile customization, in contrast to the grim tedium of what most urban travel essentially demands. "Weapons", while documenting styles and postures of gang members, invokes the dream of personal empowerment and the ideals of success born out of the ghettoes of desperation and failure."
