Soft cover. Condition: Fine. Pablo Marcos, Barry Smith, Esteban Maroto, Al Williamson, Frank Brunner, John Romita (illustrator). Following the successful debut of Conan the Barbarian in its color comics line the year before, Marvel attempted to move to the less-restricted, non-Comic Code arena of the black and white magazine format in 1971. Rated ?M For The Mature Reader!? the stories presented here contained slightly more daring themes. The lead feature was a Conan story; ?The Frost Giant?s Daughter? adapted by Roy Thomas and illustrated by Barry Smith. Additional features included the first appearance of The Man-Thing and a more brutal, Ka-Zar. Poor distribution led to the title?s cancellation after one issue. The magazine was revived in 1973, this time with more success. In 1974, Ka-Zar became the lead feature with Conan headlining a new title, The Savage Sword of Conan. ?The Frost Giant?s Daughter? was colored to make some adult scenes appropriate for the color comic and saw print in Conan the Barbarian #16. Magazine is bagged & boarded and will be carefully / securely packaged then shipped via USPS Priority Mail to ensure that it arrives to you perfectly and quickly. Collectible Entertainment note: Magazine is in Fine condition. Nice! Please See Scans!! A must have for any serious Conan enthusiast and/or collector. A very fun & entertaining read. Highly Recommended.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good Plus. First Edition. 2013. xi, 360pp. Colour and B&W illustrations. Decorated endpapers. "Under the Banyan Tree is the first comprehensive study of the evolution and flourishing of the picturesque during the British Raj. Romita Ray argues that this concept allowed British artists and writers traveling in India to aestheticize the Indian landscape, its people, and the biota (the banyan tree and the elephant, above all). These ideas not only shaped specific landscapes in India, but also fed the imagination of a global audience throughout the British empire. The material in this engaging text ranges from river landscapes and tea plantations to elephants and bejeweled Indian princes, shedding light on how the concepts of picturesque beauty and pleasure were diversified in India, sometimes dramatically beyond their conventional parameters. Exquisitely illustrated with unusual and beautiful images, Under the Banyan Tree is both a starting point for examining the function of the picturesque and an insightful addition to scholarship investigating British art and empire in the 18th and 19th centuries." Both book and unclipped dust jacket are in excellent condition. All contents are tight and clean. There are no inscriptions. PLEASE NOTE: Heavy book so extra will be needed for shipping to non-UK customers.
