Roman que la mort a laissé inachevé puisque sur les sept jours qui composent le livre, il manque le dernier, le lundi, dont il n'y a qu'une seule phrase. Le roman met en scène les mêmes lieux que dans les livres précédents (la ville argentine de Santa Fe), et certains des personnages qui les ont peuplés auxquels vient s'ajouter la nouvelle génération.
