She was educated at Methodist College, Belfast, and London University. She returned to lecture on History for the "Gaelic League" in different parts of Ireland. She edited "The Shan Van Vocht[1896-0] with Ethna Carbery, and wrote some early heroic plays for the Irish Literary Theatre-The Last of the Fianna and The Daughter of Donagh. Her poetry was seen as a clarion call to literary nationalism, inspriing Thomas MacDonagh to write of her as the "best living Irishpoet" in 1914. Her poetms, distributed in many journals were gathered with those of Ethan carbery and Seamas MacManus in "We sang for Ireland" (1950). She remained in Omagh and was apparently silenced by political disappointment . She collaborated in writing this history of Ireland with her father Seaton F. Milligan.
