Book Signed
Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. Photographs by Grey Crawford (illustrator). Once listed this will be the Only Signed copy of this book for sale anywhere on the Internet. It is inscribed on the half title page: 'To Valerie------- With warm regards, Sarah Susanka'. Ms. Susanka was featured by U.S. News and World Report as one of 18 innovators in American culture. She has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show. She was a former principal and founding partner of the firm chosen by LIFE magazine to design its 1999 Dream Home. This book is fairly large. It will challenge my scanner surface, but I'll do my best to provide adequate photographs. I can tell you that the book is exceptionally clean and shows almost no wear at all (there's a very light crease off the top edge of the front adjacent to the spine). The book is also very solidly bound, no issues in that regard. The pages look terrific. No one has written their name (excepting the author's signed inscription) or anything else anywhere in the book. There aren't any markings or attachments. I didn't see any soiling or creasing. Bottom line, the interior of the book looks pretty new. There are a great many beautiful photographs. The dust jacket looks very nice as well. It is NOT price-clipped ($34.95). The flaps are in excellent condition. The jacket is very clean. I don't see any tears. There is a thin crease off the top edge of the front adjacent to the spine, and a little bit of the same at the top of the spine. The dust jacket will be fitted with a protective cover. The book is fairly large and the cost may slightly exceed my four dollar charge for shipping. I'll cover the difference along with the cost of the box and shipping material. I pack all my books and a lot of bubble wrap to ensure that no damage occurs en route. Inscribed by Author(s).

Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very good. Grey Crawford (Photographer) (illustrator). First Printing [Stated]. The format is approximately 10.25 inches by 10.25 inches. [8], 376 pages. Illustrations (many in color). Sarah Susanka FAIA (born March 21, 1957) is an English-born American-based architect, an author of nine best-selling books, and a public speaker. Susanka is the originator of the "Not So Big" philosophy of residential architecture, which aims to "build better, not bigger." Susanka has been credited with initiating the tiny-house movement. She pursued a master's degree in architecture from the University of Minnesota while working for several architecture firms. Her thesis was the basis of her "Not So Big" books. She was a founding partner, along with her thesis advisor, of the Minneapolis-based residential architecture firm, Mulfinger, Susanka, Mahady & Partners (now known as SALA Architects) before leaving to pursue her writing and speaking career full-time. Her company is Susanka Studios. Her philosophies have appeared in various publications such as USA Today and The Wall Street Journal. Susanka was dubbed "one of 18 innovators in American culture" by U.S. News & World Report in 1998. In 2004, Builder Magazine ranked her as No. 14 out of 50 "Power Brokers". In 2007, she received the Anne Morrow Lindbergh Award, an award given periodically to recognize "outstanding individual achievement, a spirit of initiative, and work that exemplifies great dedication toward making positive contributions to our world". She is a registered architect and certified interior designer and a member of the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects and a Senior Fellow of the Design Futures Council. Sarah Susanka shows readers how to create extraordinary "Not So Big" homes. She leads a personal tour through 25 of the most beautiful, well-designed homes in North America. More than 200 color photos, floor plans and design details illustrate this innovative philosophy. Sarah proposes clear guidelines for creating homes that serve spiritual needs as well as material requirements. Topics include designing for specific lifestyles, budgeting, building a home from scratch, and more. Illustrated in color throughout. Inspiring ideas.
