To tell the truth, only half of the book, The Fox & the Eagle was written by Aesop. The other half, The Eagle & the Fox, is the same story semantically reversed. One of only two publications hand printed at the Press.Covers slightly aged toned otherwise a firm, clean copy in the original embossed illustrated cream cover illustrated and lettered in red with a small drawing by Franciska appended to her signature. This copy is distinguished by a dedication by Francis Meynell's widow, Bay, dated November 1981 to Max (Max Reinhardt of the Bodlley Head) with 'much affection' on the publication of the History of the Nonesuch Press. Meynell admired the work of the Gaberbocchus Press. This copy was presumably in his library. Uncommon in any condition. Signed by Illustrator(s).
