This copy is in fine condition bound in full red calf with raised bands to six compartments with the title in the second and gilt decoration to the rest There are gilt borders to the upper and lower boards and the gilt arrms of Blundell's School, Tiverton to the upper board, There are marbled endpapers and marbled page edges all round. There is a handsome school prize plate to the front paste down dated 1921. Bright, tight, white and square. A dust wrapper is not called for. Where the book weighs more than 1 Kilo increased charges will be quoted. Eliza Brightwen (also known as Lizzie Brightwen or Eliza Elder) (30 October 1830 5 May 1906) was a Scottish naturalist. She was self-taught, and many of her observations were made in the grounds of The Grove in Stanmore, the estate outside London which she shared with her husband during his lifetime and where she lived as a widow.
