Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book makes the case for understanding Gregor Mendel's discovery of genetic principles as a paradigm shift in the understanding of life. The author substantiates how Mendel's groundbreaking work on pea plants in the 1860s provided foundational insights that would eventually shape the field of modern genetics. This book is essential reading not only for biologists, but for anyone who wants to grapple with the history and legacy of scientific inquiry. The author provides a detailed overview of genetics before Mendel, highlighting the importance of Mendel's contemporaries and predecessors like Darwin. This book also unpacks the significance of concepts like chromosomes, linkage, and mutation in Mendelian genetics, all leading to a better grasp of the significance and impact of this scientific revolution.
