Based on the 1977 novel by John Gregory Dunne, who with his wife Joan Didion wrote the screenplay for the film. Loosely based on the notorious 1947 Black Dahlia murder, about a homicide detective investigating the brutal murder of a young woman in Los Angeles. Set and shot on location in Los Angeles. Title page present, dated November 29, 1979, noted as Third Draft, with credits for screenwriters John Gregory Dunne and Joan Didion. 136 leaves, with last page of text numbered 121.
