ILLUSTRATED in 5 full page black & white drawings with accompanying descriptive captions. Burgundy cloth binding with gold gilt lettering on front cover and spine. 572 total pages followed by 13 pages of advertisements for other Walter Scott Limited publications. Page 311-312 of Volume II text has rips and missing pieces near front edge (does not enter into text), Foxing on endpapers and on approximately 10 pages of text, elsewise a good, clean, tight copy. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good (-) Book. No Jacket. Standard Library Edition. Dark burgundy hardcover with a gilt spine title. Secure binding with a mild crack at the inner front joint. Some mild front cover damp stain blotches and minor sun to the top front cover. Bottom corner tips lightly bumped. Very good condition overall. About 8 x 5-1/4 with 315 pages. Size: 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Book.
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. This is the 1887 printing, NOT a modern reprint. Five volumes in one (complete edition). Binding a bit age-dulled and showing light wear. Pages are tight and clean with no marks. Name in ink inside the front cover. There is a gift inscription in French to a James Lewis dated 1 June 1888 and signed Victor Hugo. BUT Hugo died 1 May 1885. So probably a gag gift. No odor. No water damage. No soiling.
