Stiff Laminated Wraps. Condition: New. No Flaws or Blemishes; Gift Quality. With individual photos (taken in the field) of more than 450 wildflower species, the most accurate range information available, and organization by ecological community, Taylor's guide aids not only in wildflower identification, but also in appreciation of the Florida landscapes that support them. By linking flowers with their natural habitats, it highlights the need to protect these ecologically unique communities to ensure survival of the wildflowers themselves. In addition, it offers a new resource for gardeners interested in planting native species.

First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Engravings (illustrator). First Edition. Boston:Ticknor & Fields, 1867. The August 3, 1867 issue (Vol. IV, No. 83) of Every Saturday. 10 1/2" x 7", newsprint wraps, 32 pp. + 8 pp ads. Very Good; moderate edge wear (see scans), standard modest amount of age toning. Very old prior owner's signature of F.G. Sanborn at top of front cover. Sturdy and supple. An extraordinarily scarce original wraps copy of Every Saturday, a literary journal which is found, when it is found, almost always as six-monthly hardbound aggregations. Every Saturday was the weekly offering of Fields & Osgood after Ticknor & Fields; each of which offered, in the publisher's words, "choice reading selected from current foreign literature" - i.e., usually reprints from similar overseas journals, generally English ones, but often as well from advance sheets, and even the reprints were often pre-publication of the novel from which they were taken. This issue includes the typical variety of topics; please see cover-listed contents on scan. Most Every Saturday entries were reprinted from foreign journals, and occasionally became the first American appearance of works of some famous (or to-become-famous) authors, such as Jules Verne and Charles Dickens. Herein are two pre-publication chapters of Henry Kingsley's "Silcote of Silcotes"; three pre-publication chapters of "Stone Edge" by Frances Parthenope (Lady) Verney, who was Florence Nightingale's elder sister; "London Squares" by Walter Thornbury; and a number of other literary diversions (see scanned image of the contents), as well as eight pages of quaint ads, four at the beginning and four at the end. A small piece of publishing history. L-ES1.
Cloth. Condition: Good. Walter Paget et al. (illustrator). A uniformly bound collection of Henry Kingsley's Works, with illustrations to frontispiece. Eight volumes of a twelve volume set. Illustrations are by various artists including Walter Paget, Lancelot Speed, Herbert Railton, R. Caton Woodville, Holland Tringham, George M. Henton. Some volumes contain further illustrations integrated with text. With A Note on Old Chelsea Church of to one volume and a note on Henry Kingsley to another by Clement Shorter. Works included are: Ravenshoe; Geoffry Hamlyn; Austin Elliot and the Harveys: A Story of Two Families; The Hillyars and the Burtons; Silcote of Silcotes; Valentin and Number Seventeen; Mademoiselle Mathilde; and Stretton. Henry Kingsley (1830 - 1876) was an English novelist, brother of the better-known Charles Kingsley. He was an early exponent of Muscular Christianity in his 1859 work The Recollections Of Geoffrey Hamlyn. Previous owner's bookplates to front pastedowns. Uniformly bound in cloth. Externally, generally smart but with wear to extremities, rubbing, marks and occasional stains to boards and slight cocking to spines.
