Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book presents the findings of a research project dedicated to improving egg cleaning equipment and practices within the commercial egg industry. The author, a leading expert in the field, conducted extensive tests on an experimental egg cleaner, comparing its effectiveness to that of existing commercial machines. The results revealed that the experimental cleaner significantly outperformed the industry standard, achieving a cleaning effectiveness of 78 percent compared to the average commercial cleaner's 35.9 percent. Additionally, the experimental cleaner caused less shell damage, averaging around half the breakage rate of commercial machines. The book provides detailed design specifications for the experimental cleaner, along with general recommendations for egg cleaning that can be applied to any commercial operation. These recommendations cover aspects such as water temperature, the use of detergents and sanitizers, and the importance of proper drying techniques. By incorporating the insights and techniques presented in this book, egg producers can significantly improve the quality and safety of their products while minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency. Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the relationship between carcass weight and individual pieces when cutting up chickens. The author conducted research by cutting up a large number of broilers and recording the weights, volumes, and dimensions of the parts. The findings showed a direct correlation between carcass weight and the weight, volume, and dimensions of each piece. The research in this book provides background information for developing methods and equipment for weighing, selecting, and grouping chicken parts. It can also be helpful to plant operators and those working in equipment development. These findings have implications for efficient cut-up and packaging operations and may lead to improved methods and equipment for poultry processing. Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a thorough examination of methods and equipment used in poultry processing plants for eviscerating chickens. Drawing from case studies conducted in major broiler-producing areas, the author analyzes various techniques for each stage of the evisceration process, including shank removal, preen gland excision, bird transfer, three-point suspension, and the removal of viscera, hearts, livers, gizzards, and other organs. Comprehensive time studies reveal the labor costs associated with each method, enabling readers to identify areas for potential savings and efficiency gains. Moreover, the book discusses the impact of these methods on product quality, providing valuable insights for maintaining the wholesomeness of processed poultry. By presenting a comparative analysis of best practices, this book serves as a practical guide for optimizing evisceration operations in poultry processing plants, ultimately contributing to improved efficiency and product quality. Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Walters, Harry (illustrator). Very good condition orange yapp edged soft cover. Rubbing on the spine and the yapp edges. Area along the spine is slightly faded. Very clean interior with a tight binding. This book is an in depth look into Navajo wooden carved dolls. The book goes into great detail on the history of these dolls and the ways in which they were used by the Navajo peoples. The book includes diagrams depicting the archaeological sites in which many of these dolls were found including the full provenience charts from those digs. The illustrator of this book does a great job at recreating what some of the dolls would have looked like before they spent hundreds of years in the ground and even draws some of the possible ceremonial ways in which those dolls would have been used to invoke various spirits based on what ever doll they were using was made to be in image of.
