This may mean that there are others who are interested in the subject. It is needless to say that the subjects I have attempted to cover in the six chapters are so broad and in many ways so complicated that I had to pick only the salient points for my treatment. As far as possible I have avoided technical and most of the controversial issues which are dealt with in some of my other writings. What is presented in this book represents at least the point of view of one Chinese student of the philosophy and religions of his own people, after many years of research and reflection.
