Seller: JDBFamily, Chico, CA, U.S.A.
Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. This 8.75 x 11.25, x, 178 page book is in near fine condition but lacks the dust jacket as issued. The attractive cloth covering is still bright and unmarred by smudging or wear. The corners are sharp and show very little sign of edge-wear. The interior of the book features end-paper maps and then the real treasure of this book is its period photographs of the California Mother Lode area. The illustrations portray the aging buildings still standing at the time and this is a valuable testament to the condition of many Mother Lode structures at the time the book was issued. The interior of the book shows no real condition issues to mention. All in all this is a very attractive and valuable bit of Californiana. Although the condition and desire for this book suggests a higher price, we wish to offer it at a lower cost as an honest bargain to today's collector. 178 pages.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 4th Edition. Includes numerous black & white photographs of still existing or crumbling structures from California's famous Mother Lode region, strictly defined as "a narrow strip of gold-bearing deposits approximately a mile wide and some 150 miles long, extending roughly from Mariposa to Auburn along the present-day route of State Highway 49" in California. The book shows a 1/8" strip of very slight toning (discoloration or fading) along the bottom edge of the front cover. There is a brief inscription from the author and a relative of the recipient on the half-title page, as well as one additional small inscription on the first free endpage. Otherwise, book is completely clean and free of wear or damage. I rated the dust jacket "Good" but it is nearing "Very Good" condition. It is almost completely clean and is not price-clipped. The wear is along edges including rub wear, a few creases and a few small chips and tears, the longest of which is less than 1/4". Book and dust jacket will be bubble-wrapped and carefully packed in a sturdy box to ensure safe transit. Inscribed by Author(s).

Decorated beige boards/NF w/trace soiling. DJ/None. Maps to endpapers. Photographic record of physical structures, some standing others crumbling, left behind on the Mother Lode by the short lived on rush of frenzied hords in search of gold, supplemented with stories and anecdotes.
