Book Well kept and carefully stored in unread condition. Slight shelf wear. An unclipped dust jacket smooth and clean is discolored with age with slight shelf wear - a few tears, scrapes, wrinkles and chips. Not an ex-library, book club or remainder copy. Senator Burton K. Wheeler of Montana, with refreshing candor and characteristic courage inherited from his New England forebearers, traces his life from birth to retirement. Inscribed on front and back endpapers by Burton K. Wheeler. As a freshman senator, Wheeler played a crucial role in exposing the Harding administration's unwillingness to prosecute people involved in the Teapot Dome scandal. He ran for vice president in 1924 on the Progressive Party ticket headed by Wisconsin Senator Robert La Follette Sr. An ardent New Deal liberal until 1937, Wheeler broke with President Franklin D. Roosevelt on the issue of packing the Supreme Court. In foreign policy, from 1938 to 1941, he became a leader of the non-interventionist wing of the party, fighting against entry into World War II until the attack on Pearl Harbor. 436 pp.

ISBN-13: 9781584773955; ISBN-10: 1584773952. Wheeler, John. A Treatise of Commerce. Edited With an Introduction and Notes by George Burton Hotchkiss. Originally published: New York: The New York University Press, 1931. xi, 484 pp. Reprinted 2004 by The Lawbook Exchange, Ltd. ISBN-13: 9781584773955; ISBN-10: 1584773952. Hardcover. New. $49.95 * Published in 1601, this treatise is an unabashed work of propaganda on behalf of the Merchants Adventurers of England, an international trading company. Written by the company's secretary, John Wheeler [fl. 1601-1608], it is the earliest important example of corporate publicity. Moreover, it offers a detailed picture of business organizations and public-private partnerships during the Elizabethan era and glimpses of such personalities as Burghley, Cecil (the younger) and Queen Elizabeth. This book contains a facsimile of the rare first edition, as well as an unabridged critical edition by Hotchkiss, with detailed notes and an extensive introduction.
