Sydney : The Beagle Press, 2015. Quarto, gilt-lettered black cloth in matching slipcase, pp. 220, illustrated. New copy. Brett Whiteley drawings includes 180 of his most important drawings, from early views made as a student to the last series of works made in Paris in 1989, before his untimely death. He was an indefatigable draughtsman, putting great energy into his drawings and they stand alone as a vital part of his oeuvre; they are the essence of Brett Whiteley. The book includes an essay about the drawings by Lou Klepac and quotes from the artist's notebooks. The purpose of drawing is to make freshness permanent. Out of billions of seconds of futility, occasionally, sparks of the life force are immutably held forever. Brett Whiteley.
