Illustrated with 12 Full-Page Plates by George Cruikshank (includes the frontis). Title page has vignette illus. of a fiend of a cook conjuring up demon servants from the fire with her bellows. Period brown haklf-leather binding with blind-tooled decoration to spine. Marbled paper-covered boards and leather corners. Page edges finely speckled red. 285 p.pages + list of Plates. 7 1/4" tall. Ttile lable missing from spine but lettering is still visible. Small split to leather, 1 1/2" long on left side of spine. Edge wear and corners worn. Boards rubbed. Old inscription at top of title page and one penciled note in margin of one page. No other inscriptions.
