Internal wear and soiling with some light staining and foxing. Bound into paper over boards with a color facsimile of the front wrapper affixed to the upper cover A good copy. Written by Titus Strong for juveniles, this is an account of the captivity of the Rev. John Williams, likely based upon one of the numerous printings starting in 1707. See Howes W-461 "One of the most famous and most popular captivity narratives. Williams, a Harvard graduate, in charge of the church at Greenfield when it was attacked by Indians, in 1703, was taken, with other, to Canada, his wife and two of his children being tomahawked on the way. As a powerful picture of Indian cruelty, ranks next to the Rowlandson captivity narrative, published in 1682". Ayer Collection No. 61 list only the fourth edition of 1842.
