A scarce first edition copy of this sketch by Thackeray, one of the limited edition from the 'Sette of Odd Volumes' privately printed for members of the Sette. The first edition of this work in the original pictorial parchment wraps, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. One of 321 limited edition copies. Illustrated with a frontispiece drawn expressly for this volume by W. D. Almond. In 1878, prominent bookseller Bernard Quaritch (1819-1899) created an exclusive gentleman's dining club called The Sette of Odd Volumes. The name is derived from the book-collecting term describing bound volumes which were not paired with the others in their 'set'. Members included Sir Edward Sullivan, John Lane, Sir Alfred Edward East, A. J. A. Symons and Vyvyan Holland, and the club welcomed distinguished guests such as Oscar Wilde, Mark Twain, Walter Crane, Aubrey Beardsley, George Bernard Shaw, and Max Beerbohm. This sketch by the renowned author William Makepeace Thackeray is No. XXVII of the privately printed opuscula for the club, and was communicated to the Sette by Brother Charles Plumptre Johnson at a meeting at Limmer's Hotel in 1891. In original pictorial parchment wraps, with original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, parchment wraps are very smart, with some age toning and a little offsetting from the dust wrapper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with just some offsetting to the end papers, though many are uncut. Dust wrapper is age toned, with some small losses to the spine, extremities, and folds. Very Good Indeed. book.

A Fine, unread book bound in simulated brown leather that has been crafted so that lettering and designs appear to have been hand-tooled to the leather; book is housed in a Fine, matching clamshell box. The over-size book is a beautiful production (box measures 11 ½ by 9 by 2 ½ inches). In addition to the Introduction and Afterword, content includes: All titles of the Arapaho Ten Commandments series; ten other short stories, and two essays. Parks has provided 66 illustrations (many of these are the same as appeared in the Ten Commandments Series. The original drawing for the third illustration ("You are my younger sister, she said") is mounted inside the box, opposite the book. All three authors and Parks have signed on the limitation page. The A.S.A.P. hardcover with jacket and the lettered editions are the true first printing of this collection there was a Berkley trade paperback edition in 2013. The trues firsts are extremely hard to find, especially the letter collectors version. Signed by Author(s).
