No trace of gilt here, but it is possible that the gilt wore away. There is a damp stain on the front cover with splashes of a substance on the spine and rear board. The front hinge is intact, but it feels like the spine cloth could be starting away from the back strip Or the hinge is starting. There are no cracks to either hinge. The text pages are toned and the fore edge is uneven End papers are clean of owner's names and bookplates. However, there is heavy discoloration and toning along the paste down glues lines (front and back).
