The book describes the first discoveries of the following phenomena:- gyrotropy of uniaxial non-enantiomorphous crystals;- weak gyrotropy of 'non-gyrotropic crystals;- gyrotropy induced in non-gyrotropic crystals by applied external fields: - stress-induced gyrotropy (piezogyration),- electrogyration (induced by electric field).These effects present only in anisotropic crystal directions and can be observed at 'isotropic point' - wavelength of optical isotropy resulting from crossing of dispersion curves of crystal. The original methods of finding the spectral position of isotropic point, and of analysis of causes of optical anomalies ('pseudocrossing'); which can be observed at isotropic point, are presented too. 72 pp. Englisch.
