This copy signed by both Fred and Geoffrey Hoyle on the front blank fly-leaf (no other marks or inscriptions). Hoyle famously coined the term 'Big Bang' to describe the origin of the universe, a theory he was originally opposed to. Besides being a great populariser of cosmology and astronomy, his work on the mechanism of the sun and other stars is of particular importance to the understanding of the universe. He wrote a number of science fiction works, most famously 'A for Andromeda' and 'The Black Cloud', some, like this one, were co-written with his son Geoffrey.
