The Clyde is synonomous with the best of British shipbuilding and this selection of photos, with a few art illustrations, is tribute to some of the more notable of the many ships launched on the Clyde. Ships covered begin with the little Comet, "the mother of the British steamship" of 1812 and the last of the 30 in the coillection is the Queen Elizabeth 2 of 1967. Among the familiar names are Cutty Sark, Falls of Clyde, Caronia, Aquitania and Lusitania, HMS Vanguard, HMS Hood and Queen Mary. In the main the full page illustrations are photos, a few in colour, most b/w and some sepia, depicted in art form are the Comet, clippers Aerial and Taeping and PS Britannia. Details of each vessel pictured is on the facing (left) page. An excellent shipping album. Additional colour art by Donald Cameron depicts the Empress of Scotland (front cover) and Lusitania? (back). Another painting, of the padddle steamer Waverley, on title page. First edition. 63 pages, VG+ overall. No inscriptions.
