Die Geschichte der Menschheit ist voll von Wanderungsbewegungen. Im 20. Jahrhundert nahm Migration oft von internationalen wie innerstaatlichen Krisen ihren Ausgang. Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs kam es beispielsweise zu einer grossen Auswanderung von Europa nach den USA, Australien, Kanada und anderen Staaten. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg änderte sich das Ausmaß und die Richtung der Hauptmigrationsströme. Wanderungsbewegungen aus den Staaten des globalen Südens, gekennzeichnet durch weniger entwickelte Volkswirtschaften, nach Industrie- und Wohlfahrtsstaaten des globalen Nordens lösten die zuvor grösste Migrationsbewegung, nämlich jene zwischen den entwickelten Industriestaaten ab. Zunehmender Migrationsdruck auf die Industriestaaten des globalen Nordens begann spätestens dann für diese Staaten zu einem politischen und kulturellen Problem zu werden, als diese Staaten auch zunehmende Probleme hatten, das Wirtschaftswachstum der Nachkriegszeit zu halten. In Zeiten von konjunkturellen Flauten der Volkswirtschaften der Industrienationen sind speziell weniger gebildete Arbeitskräfte ein Problem für die Politik. Diese Entwicklung ist auch in den unterschiedlichen Einwanderungspolitiken der USA nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg zu erkennen. Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich mit der internationalen Migration von Mexiko nach den USA und dem damit verbundenen Problem für die Politik der Vereinigten Staaten. Die USA weisen auch im 21. Jahrhundert eine enorme Anziehung auf Migranten aus allen Regionen der Welt auf, speziell aber aus lateinamerikanischen Ländern. Von den weltweit 140 Millionen Migranten leben ein Viertel in den Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika. Ein Drittel dieser 35 Millionen Menschen sind mexikanischen Ursprungs. Die Darstellung des Problems der mexikanischen Migration nach den USA und die Art der Einwanderungspolitiken stehen in engem Zusammenhang. Die Darstellung dieser ist zentraler Kern der Untersuchung. Bei der vorliegenden Arbeit handelt es sich um eine Politikfeldanalyse. Diese behandelt die Einwanderungspolitik der USA seit 1986. 124 pp. Deutsch.
