Viele seiner öffentlichen Bauwerke, darunter das Rathaus von Säynätsalo, ein Vortragssaal der Technischen Universität Otaniemi sowie das Volkspensionsamt und das Haus der Kultur in Helsinki, waren für Finnland nicht nur physische, sondern auch psychologische Wahrzeichen des Wiederaufbaus nach den Zerstörungen des Kriegs.
