Foram produzidos e caracterizados compósitos de nanofibras de celulose (NFC) e fosfato de cálcio bifásico (BCP) para potencial aplicação em Engenharia de Tecidos. Foram produzidas NFC por hidrólise ácida de algodão comercial, e caracterizadas por de FTIR, MET e DRX. Espumas foram obtidas com proporções de BCP e NFC iguais a 4:1 e 3:2 respectivamente; e caracterizadas por FTIR, MEV, Ângulo de Contato e BET. As NFC apresentaram alto rendimento de produção; e diâmetro médio, índice de cristalinidade e aglomeração semelhantes aos descritos na literatura. Os compósitos apresentaram bandas de absorção no espectro de infravermelho compatíveis com NFC e BCP. Imagens de MEV evidenciaram poros na ordem de 10 µm. Adição de NFC à matriz cerâmica aumentou a hidrofilicidade do material. Adição de 25% de NFC ocasionou aumento da área superficial (AS); porém 40% reduziu a AS, provavelmente devido à aglomeração das NFC que se refletiu também no tamanho das partículas.
