The text is illustrated with numerous full-colour drawings by Clifton Pugh. Some illustrations are vignettes, quarter page, half page and the occasional full-page drawing. Colour illustrated front cover, with red and black titles to the front panel and back titles to the backstrip. A little bumping to the backstrip edges and rubbing to the book corners. Colour illustrated dustwrapper, same illustration as the underlying board, with red and black titles to the front panel and black titles to the backstrip. Rubbing and creasing to the dustwrapper edges and a few marks to the laminate of the dustwrapper. There is a 2 inch tear to the top right-hand corner of the rear dustwrapper panel. Colour photographs of author and illustrator to the rear fold over panel. The story of a dog, Digger, and an orphaned wombat, Myrtle. This was the last commissioned work by the illustrator, Clifton Pugh, who, did not live to see the end product but was passionately concerned with conservation, art and the idea of children having access to both.
