Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Love is whimsy and love is blind, or so they say. From a conversation between four friends, to couples embracing, to a star-gazing young man crumbling before your eyes, We used to talk about love contemplates the diverse terrain of love - joy and elation, sex and flesh, desire and rejection, crushing endings, melancholia and memory, nostalgia and loss. We used to talk about love features the work of eleven artists - Polly Borland, Eliza Hutchison, Paul Knight, Angelica Mesiti, David Noonan, David Rosetzky, Tim Silver, Glenn Sloggett, Grant Stevens, Darren Sylvester and Justene Williams. Collectively their work reveals a paradigm shift away from postmodernism towards the intimate in art practice. The artists all work in the field of photomedia - covering photography, film and video - but also combined with collage, sculpture and installation art. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

First Edition
First edition. 4to., 181 pp., largely illustrated with b&w and color plates from photographs. Heavy card wrappers with gate-fold illustrated inner flaps. A very good copy. Published as the catalogue for the exhibition held December 2, 2000 - February 25, 2001. Includes a text, timeline, artist's biographies, list of works, a bibliography, etc. "Every twenty seconds, all over the world, some aspect of life and social ritual is recorded by the camera: empty rooms, the glinting flanks of horses and bathing beauties, society ladies, the dead and dying . More than forty major artists and photographers and more than 200 works are included in World Without End, the first major international photography exhibition to be organised from Australia. Some of the most rare, beautiful and unusual images will be presented through vintage prints and publications. Amongst those included are Diane Arbus, Eugène Atget, Pat Brassington, Walker Evans, Carol Jerrems, Man Ray, August Sander, Alfred Stieglitz and Weegee. World Without End examines the extraordinary role of photography in shaping 20th century consciousness. This was a century characterised by prolific creation, circulation and consumption of images. It is now impossible to imagine our reality unmediated by the camera." [Judy Annear].
