ALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (S/hand, Paperback, 2017). 2017 1st edition. 8vo paperback (148 x 210mm). Pp128. Colour photographs throughout. Slight shelf-wear, small ink-spot to bottom edge o/w a fine unread copy. "With their wild glare, swift turn of foot and secretive nature, hares have long been a symbol of our sweeping, open countryside and it is always thrilling to spot a hare in the wild. A favourite subject of artists and writers, hares have held significance in British culture and folklore for centuries, from Druidic associations with spring to the Easter Bunny and Lewis Carroll's mad March Hare. Focussing on our two British species - the Brown Hare and its relatives the Mountain Hare and Irish Hare - Nancy Jennings uses up-to-date research to offer insights into the lives of these enigmatic animals, covering their biology, evolution, habitats and behaviour, including their famous 'boxing' rituals, and reveals why this almost mythical animal of hill and meadow is so sensitive to the changes we make to age-old farming landscapes." Chapters include:- Meet the hares; Evolution and adaptations; Relatives around the world; The lives of hares; Breeding machines; Growing up fast; Eat or be eaten; Conservation of hares; Humans and hares; Folklore and art; How to see hares. .

Hardback. Condition: Mint. Dust Jacket Condition: Mint. First Edition. UNPLUCKED Columns, Blogs and Musings. Bill Oddie. Bloomsbury Publishing, London. 2015 First edition ISBN 9781472915313 224pp Illustrated Hardback. This mint unread copy is bound in cloth covered boards with bright gilt titling to the spine, tight, white, bright and square. The unclipped dust wrapper is also in mint condition. Bill Oddie has been the voice and face of birding broadcasting for more than three decades. Those of a certain age will fondly remember Bill as the shortest and hairiest of the trio of The Goodies, a popular and long-running comedy series that followed hot on the heels of Monty Python. After those heady days, Bill reinvented himself as the face (and voice) of mainstream bird watching in Britain. He fronted television and radio programmes and wrote widely in the press on subjects close to his heart. Never one to shirk controversy, Bill's writings were always informative and entertaining. In this new book, Bill has compiled and expanded a collection of his recent published musings about birds and bird watching, and the wildlife he has been fortunate to see on his many travels over the years. The collection covers a wide array of subjects, from a less than satisfactory press trip to the Galapagos in the 1980s and recent disagreements with his London neighbours over the noisy squadrons of parakeets over their respective gardens, to encounters with Orcas in Argentina and Iceland, and with an invisible Tiger in India. Writing in his witty and inimitable style, Bill is sure to entertain and enthral his many fans with this new book of thoughts and opinions on the world of natural history. The book is illustrated throughout with Bill's charming and comic line drawings. Ref I3.

The orchid family is one of the largest plant families in the world. It is at its most diverse in the tropics, where its exotic and colorful flowers are truly breathtaking. Britain and Ireland have just 56 species of wild orchids, some of which are rare or scarce, while others are surprisingly inconspicuous. Yet whether large or small, all orchids share flamboyant flower structures and incredible beauty. This new Pocket Guide covers all 56 species of British and Irish orchids, with concise text, breathtaking color photographs, and accurate range maps based on compilations made by the Biological Record Centre. The book is derived from the highly acclaimed Orchids of Britain and Ireland: A Field and Site Guide, also by Simon Harrap. Ref JJJ 1.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. A wonderful copy of the first volume in the Gonzovation Trilogy. Signed by Ceri Levy, who provides the commentary, and by the artist, Ralph Steadman with accompanying splatter and doodle. Orange-coloured cloth with silver-gilt decoration and titles to the upper cover. Unpaginated, a very large and heavy book weighing in at 2 Kilos approx. In beautiful, unread condition, creakingly tight, minor bump to top corner of the upper cover. The dustjacket is unclipped and has a few trivial creases/rubs around the edges but is otherwise in nice, clean condition. The front flap caught a splash of the artist's splatter at signing and bears, therefore, a small dark spot. Stunningly illustrated, an absolute masterpiece. Signed by Author(s).
