Hard Cover Full Gloss. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. ### The Observer's Book of FIREARMS by Nicholas Du Quesne Bird 1992 ## ## THIS BOOK: Classified as FINE: This revised edition was published in 1992, first in 1978, and reprinted in 1982and this edition 1992. The laminated hardcover is called a 'Glossie'. The book is good throughout, just some bumping to the bottom corner. The same quality of content and the 119 photographs and line drawings are black-and-white, bringing the illustrations up to date, and it looks like a higher resolution of the printing method is also up to date. They feel quality and can stand up to use far better than before.## There is so much information within these pages. This book is an encyclopaedia on firearms but in pocket form. READ ON for more details and interesting facts ## ## "The Observer's Book of Firearms" by Nicholas Du Quesne Bird is a compact and informative guide that traces the history and development of firearms. The book is profusely illustrated and covers the evolution of guns from the most primitive handheld cannon introduced six hundred years ago to the sophisticated prototypes under trial today. It provides an interesting insight into the literature on firearms from a previous generation. This book is a must-have for anyone interested in the history and development of firearms. Its compact size makes it easy to carry around, and its comprehensive content makes it a valuable resource. Whether you're a firearms enthusiast or a curious reader, this book will surely provide you with a wealth of knowledge.## ## The Observer's Books were a series of small, pocket-sized books published by Frederick Warne & Co. in the United Kingdom from 1937 to 2003. They covered various topics, including hobbies, art, history and wildlife. These books aimed to interest the observers and have also been popular amongst children. Some of them have become collector's items. This could be a lifetime's work for the dedicated collector, as there are over 800 variations, some of which are now rare. The values of the books can vary from 50 pence to hundreds of pounds.## ## Until 1969, printed books had dust covers. Each one had a unique pattern of squiggly lines at the top, but these were not especially practical because they were easy to rip and stain. From 1970, the covers received a glossy coating. Books of this type are generally called "Glossies". From the late 1970s, Warne decided to laminate the book to the actual books, making them sturdier and more resistant to wear.## ## The first Observer's Guide was published in 1937 and was on the subject of British birds. A mint copy with a dust cover is worth hundreds of pounds; a British wild-flowers book was produced; a mint copy of this book is worth around £220. More titles were published when this popularity was recognized. 'uniform in the series', but during World War II, productions were limited due to paper and labour shortages. By 1941, Warne had published the first six Observer books.## ### INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: Please Note. FREE SHIPPING IS UK ONLY. Please get in touch with me for a shipping quotation. ####. No bumping or shelf-marks. A gardening book, stepping away from traditional planting and making it work. ### ### Drawing on the experience of designing her garden, Mirabel Osler gives us a multitude of horticultural reflections. She describes with an imaginative touch and dry humour rarely found in gardening writing how her garden evolved and how, without meaning to, she let it take over her life. She muses on many themes, principally her 'gentle plea for chaos'? a move away from the planning and regimentation of gardening with the mentality of a stamp-collector. She writes about the alchemy of gardens, nineteenth-century plant collectors and plant illustrators, gardening philosophers, all fertilizing great thoughts along with their hollyhocks. ### #### INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: Please Note.
