A tight firm clean volume in multicolor illustrated soft wraps, 9 1/2" x 8 1/2" x 176 clean and very lightly read pages of splendid Shaker history, cooking and recipes. Very well illustrated . The author was born in Shaker Heights Ohio and grew up with the history of the Order. Mrs. Piercy based this cookbook on a manuscript cookbook handed down from her own mother, who received the recipes, and titled the recipes, from the Shaker women who handed them to Mother. Mr. Tolve then contributed recipes and lore for the expanded second edition. A well-made book and a wonderful read. Very Good condition, lightly read. No whitening, Very minimal wear - a bit of rubbing at the bottom edge, really minor. and a few spots on the leading edges. No looseness, No mustiness, No smoke smell. No names, No markings, No bookplates, NOT Ex-library. NOT remainder-marked. A marvelous Shaker cookery find.
