From the Dust Jacket: "Boise's history is a special one: few American communities of comparable size have overcome the disadvantages of geography as successfully as has this 'City of Trees.' Located in a remote mountain and desert location, Boise's development was largely shaped by two factors: isolation, and a determination to not let it stand in the way. (No other major city-state capital had such a difficult time obtaining railroad transportation, or such as easy time getting a modern airport.) As this book reveals, the Boise of today justifies the great investment of pioneer effort that was necessary to build this city of distinction. From Indian days to urban redevelopment, Dr. Wells gives an unforgettable account. Hundreds of vintage photographs and other illustrations, painstakingly researched and selected by Arthur A. Hart." . First Edition (so stated). Oversize Hardcover. Fine condition/Very Good jacket (price clip). 207pp.

Other. Condition: Fair. B&W Illustrations; C1932 -33. This is a Chamber of Commerce flier regarding a committee put together to determine if, when and where landing fields for aviation should be developed in the state of California. Unfortunately, the flier (made up of one smallish sheet, folded three times) has cracked completely at the bottom crease and has separated. The top crease has cracking as well, though is still attached. This report / flier was either written by, or the output of work by Emory B. Bronte. There are two long strips of tape shadowing to the front cover and both inner pages. "Bronte, a native of New York, had gone to sea at age 15 before entering the Navy in World War I. After the war he joined Isthmian Steamship Company, working his way up from third mate to master. In 1923 he relocated to San Francisco to work for McCormick Steamship Company, after which he became the Pacific Coast representative of the Inland Waterways Corporation. Along the way he had authored a book on navigation, but government service had also whetted his interest in the law, a field he planned to study after the 1927 flight was over. He had taken flying lessons and had soloed in a Curtiss JN-4 Jenny but had no actual pilot s license." (from HistoryNet).
