Ray Sasser spent more than 40 years writing about the outdoors, having worked for The Port Arthur News, the Dallas Times Herald and The Dallas Morning News. He also contributed to a variety of outdoor publications, including Lone Star Outdoor News and Shooting Sportsman. He was the author of 11 books, including Texas Quail. Wyman Meinzer is the only official State Photographer of Texas, named so in 1997 by the Texas State Legislature and then Gov. George W. Bush, an honor he still holds today. Wyman has photographed and /or written 24 large format books, and his images have appeared on more than 250 magazine covers throughout America. Meinzer loves hunting with rifles, pistols and bow, flying and wood work. David Baxter, former editor of Texas Parks & Wildlife Magazine, described Meinzer best when he called him ?a man with the eye of a nineteenth-century impressionist painter and the soul of a buffalo hunter?
