The contents are in very good condition, the front page has a previous owners signature in ink. The boards are in good condition, they have some rubbing to the edges and to the top and bottom of the spine.

First edition, rebound in a smart cloth binding. Written by English historian W. Hylton Dyer Longstaffe, known for his historical work on Darlington. This work presents a history of the parish of Darlington, in County Durham, with insight into local landmarks including churches and bridges, as well as historical events which have occurred there. With eleven engraved plates, collated complete, although with 'St Cuthbert's' two plates bound at page 220 instead of 218, as stated. With a bookplate of the City of Cardiff public library to the front paste down. Bound in red cloth. Externally, very smart, with light bumping to the extremities and the odd handling mark. Tape reinforcing hinges. Library bookplate to the front paste down, with a stamp to the rear paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with the odd spotting. Pages bound upside down between xvii-xxiv and cv-cxi. Very Good Indeed. book.
