[24], 795, [29], 64 S. Mit doppelblattgroßer Holzschnitt-Tafel und Titel in Schwarz und Rot gedruckt. Hoch-8°. Karmesinroter Chagrinlederband der Zeit mit goldgeprägtem Rückentitel, goldgeprägten Rückenfileten und Deckelbordüren, Vorderdeckelmonogramm «S. W. M.» und Jahreszahl «1824», dreiseitiger Goldschnitt in marmoriertem Pappschuber. Rücken minimal dunkler, kaum berieben, Schuber etwas stärker. Reizende Ausgabe des höchst beliebten sogenannten «Porst'schen Gesangbuchs», einer Zusammenstellung der protestantischen Kirchenlieder und Gebeten von Johann Porst (1668-1728). «Johann P. Porst., Herausgeber des nach ihm benannten berühmten Gesangbuches, . kam im August 1683 auf das Gymnasium in Hof, von wo aus er im October 1689 die Universität in Leipzig bezog . Im November 1704 wurde er zum zweiten Prediger an der Friedrichswerderschen und Dorotheenstädtischen Kirche in Berlin berufen. Der Eifer, mit welchem P. auch hier unter ganz anderen Verhältnissen seines Amtes wartete, verschaffte ihm bald auch in Berlin Anerkennung, und so wählte ihn die Königin Sophie Louise im J. 1709 zu ihrem Hofprediger und Beichtvater. Nicht lange danach, im Januar 1713, ernannte ihn der König Friedrich zum Pastor primarius zu St. Nicolai und zum Propsten von Berlin . Friedrich Wilhelm I. ernannte ihn im J. 1716 zum Consistorialrath . Bekannt aber ist sein Name noch heute in weiten Kreisen vorzüglich wegen des von ihm herausgegebenen und nach ihm benannten Gesangbuches. Die beiden ersten Auflagen dieses Gesangbuches erschienen in den Jahren 1708 und 1711 ohne Porst's Namen» (ADB XXVI, 444). Besonders schön ist der doppelblattgroße Holzschnitt-Titel mit dem Paar Friedrich Wilhelm IV. und Prinzessin Elisabeth Ludovika und einer Ansicht der Stadt Berlin mit zahlreichen Kirchtürmen und der barocken Schlossfassade, die die Häuser überragt, sowie einer großen Windmühle rechts am Bildrand. Kaum gebräunt, sehr schön erhaltenes Exemplar in dem bemerkenswert schönen Chagrinband mit den Initialen "S. W. M." und der Jahreszahl "1824" auf dem Vorderdeckel. Zu Porst vgl. u. a.
