Tunnicliffe. Fine copy. Negley Farson "was a great journalist and foreign correspondent for the Chicago Daily News in the Twenties and Thirties. And wherever he went, he would always take his fishing rod with him. His latter years, after a fantastic globe-trotting life, were spent in Devon. Going Fishing was first published in 1942 and is indeed a classic. In addition to the complete text of Going Fishing, this edition includes most of chapter IX of Farson's Last Chance in Africa (1949) on his experiences of trout fishing during the Mau Mau troubles in Kenya. The book also contains 26 black and white illustrations by C. F. Tunnicliffe." New French translation of the 2003 Merlin Unwin edition of Going Fishing. .

Condition: new. ALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (S/hand, Hardcover, 2008). (1910) 2008 French edition. Pp248,ill,ad. B/w photographs, new colour illustrations by Yves Petit. Laminated boards. Edition ltd to 150 numbered copies. Slightly bumped else fine. Charmingly written in the form of letters to the author's sons, its advice is as relevant now as when it was written. French translation of the 3rd edition. The translator has omitted the author's notes since, "for the most part they refer to technical details, now obsolete". According to the translator, "the translation is faithful to the original text - including, let it be said, Chaytor's obvious errors, for instance on the subject of the spawning of salmon". Newcolour illustrations by Yves Petit. This edition consists of 500 copies, of which the first 150 were numbered and appeared in hardback. Although paperback and hardback are treated as one printing, the first 150 copies are referred to as the 'edition de tete'. This limitation is not stated in the paperback edition. .

ALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (S/hand, Hardcover, 2009). (1957) 2009 1st French edition. 8vo (167 x 248mm). Pp238,ad. B/w photographs and illustrations, map. Laminated boards. Edn limited to 300 copies of which the first 100 are numbered. Fine unread copy. Numbered copy of a limited edition of 300 (only the first 100 were numbered). This is the first French translation of Torridge Fishery by Lindsay Gray. Gray was proprietor of a fishing hotel on the Torridge. A useful and scarce work (in the original, and more so in French!) which covers spinning and greased-line fishing for salmon and is particularly good on seatrout. Includes a good section on the management of salmon and seatrout rivers. The French text is easily accessible to anyone who remembers some of their French from school and who has a basic knowledge of flyfishing. If you want to discuss fishing with French anglers, reading any of Claude Belloir's translations of English classics is an easy, pain-free way in, and much to be recommended. .

Pictorial laminated boards. Fine unread copy. Numbered copy from a total edition of 500 *. Guy-Noel Chaumont was born in the Auvergne where his father was an angler, cane rod builder and founder of a fish hatchery. Chaumont himself emigrated to French Canada at the age of 26 in pursuit of a new life and more salmon fishing. This book is partly an account of his career as a fisherman, and entirely an expression of his enthusiasm for salmon, trout, muskellunge and the fish and rivers of Eastern Canada. Chaumont is particularly concerned with the decline of fish stocks at the hands of pollution and the devastating post-war mega projects for which federal and provincial governments have shown such enthusiasm. A fascinating, if difficult, read, with masses of information of direct use to anyone intending to fish the area, especially rivers discharging into the lower waters of the St. Lawrence. Annoyingly, there is neither a table of contents nor an index. Text entirely in French. Edition limited to 500 copies of which only the first 150 (l'edition de tete) are numbered. .
