ALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (S/hand, Hardcover, 2009). (1957) 2009 1st French edition. 8vo (167 x 248mm). Pp238,ad. B/w photographs and illustrations, map. Laminated boards. Edn limited to 300 copies of which the first 100 are numbered. Fine unread copy. Numbered copy of a limited edition of 300 (only the first 100 were numbered). This is the first French translation of Torridge Fishery by Lindsay Gray. Gray was proprietor of a fishing hotel on the Torridge. A useful and scarce work (in the original, and more so in French!) which covers spinning and greased-line fishing for salmon and is particularly good on seatrout. Includes a good section on the management of salmon and seatrout rivers. The French text is easily accessible to anyone who remembers some of their French from school and who has a basic knowledge of flyfishing. If you want to discuss fishing with French anglers, reading any of Claude Belloir's translations of English classics is an easy, pain-free way in, and much to be recommended. .

Pictorial laminated boards. Fine unread copy. Numbered copy from a total edition of 500 *. Guy-Noel Chaumont was born in the Auvergne where his father was an angler, cane rod builder and founder of a fish hatchery. Chaumont himself emigrated to French Canada at the age of 26 in pursuit of a new life and more salmon fishing. This book is partly an account of his career as a fisherman, and entirely an expression of his enthusiasm for salmon, trout, muskellunge and the fish and rivers of Eastern Canada. Chaumont is particularly concerned with the decline of fish stocks at the hands of pollution and the devastating post-war mega projects for which federal and provincial governments have shown such enthusiasm. A fascinating, if difficult, read, with masses of information of direct use to anyone intending to fish the area, especially rivers discharging into the lower waters of the St. Lawrence. Annoyingly, there is neither a table of contents nor an index. Text entirely in French. Edition limited to 500 copies of which only the first 150 (l'edition de tete) are numbered. .
