This copy contains an ink inscription on the lower title-page margin, regarding the history of the publication: "Read by Dean White the Sunday next before Advent 1930 at the Morning Service in Trinity [Episcopal] Cathedral Cleveland [Ohio] and then placed among the Archives of the Diocese. 70 Copies of this printed Sermon came to me with other pamphlets from the late Bishop Leonard's Library Of the 70 I put some on the Literature Table in the Cathedral the day I read it-and sent the remainder to Bexley Hall for use of the students there assembled. F.S.W." [F. S. White]. This copy belonged to William G. Mather (1857-1951), and bears his bookplate on the inner front cover; he was associated with Trinity Cathedral; some penciling is present, probably added by W. G. Mather; and his "Received" stamp for Nov. 25, 1930 is also present on the title-page. Scarce item.
