This third volume of the Romance of Arthur series is meant to provide some idea of the widespread dissemination of Arthurian myth in Europe and the literature evolving from it. We have therefore gone east to Russia, south to Italy andSpain, and north to Norway. In terms of time, we move t the 1500s with the Byelorussian Tristan, while most of the other selections can be dated from the 1100s to the 1400s, the period of florescence. Samples are selected from Middle English, French, and German to emphasize the lesser known but very interesting and important items on cannot find in standard anthologies. As in the preceding two volumes, all the selections have been freshly translated. A clean very presentable copy.
